Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to common questions about collecting signatures, maintaining validity, and properly completing and submitting petition sheets.

This campaign pays per valid signature.

Focus on busy, high-traffic locations such as grocery stores, large retail stores, festivals, parks, transit areas, and busy sidewalks.

Standing near entrances where people naturally slow down can help you speak with more voters and the more eligible voters you speak with, the more signatures you can collect.

Before handing someone the petition, confirm they are a registered Missouri voter and that they are signing the petition for the county where they are registered.

You can also check voter registration using:  https://passvalidity.com

Using Pass Validity helps circulators confirm registration and maintain a 75% or higher validity rate.

Most rejected signatures occur because of:

  • Non-registered voters
  • Mixing counties on one petition
  • P.O. Box addresses
  • Missing ZIP codes
  • Printed signatures instead of cursive
  • Incomplete addresses

Double-checking each line before moving on helps prevent these issues.

Have the voter draw a single line through the mistake and sign on the next available line.

Do not use white-out.

Yes. However, each petition sheet can only contain signatures from one county. If someone is registered in a different county, they must sign a petition sheet for the county where they are registered to vote.

For example, if a voter from St. Louis County signs your petition and their spouse is registered in St. Charles County, you must start a new St. Charles County petition sheet for them to sign.

Circulators should maintain at least 75% validity. Maintaining 75% or higher validity ensures you receive full payment for your collected signatures.

If validity drops below 75%, invalid signatures may be purged until the remaining signatures reach the 75% threshold before payment is calculated.

Before turning in your petitions, make sure everything is organized and complete:

  • Complete the Circulator Coversheet
  • Make sure each petition sheet contains signatures from only one county
  • Ensure the Circulator Affidavit is completed and signed in front of a notary
  • Write the number of signatures on each petition sheet in the top left corner in pencil
  • Organize petition sheets by county and keep them in order
  • Place the coversheet on top of the petition stack

Taking a moment to review your petitions before submission helps prevent delays and ensures your signatures can be processed quickly.

Successful circulators focus on busy locations, quick introductions, and confirming voter eligibility first.

Using tools like Pass Validity and double-checking petition lines helps ensure signatures are accepted and counted.
